India has so far reported 5,66,840 cases and 16,893 deaths so far. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today amid the Coronavirus lockdown. While addressing the nation, he spoke about the rapid spurt in the number of cases in the country. "We can see that India is in a better position than many countries in the world when comparing the COVID-19 death rates", he said during the address. He striked a word of caution saying that the citizens need to be more aware about the spread of the pandemic and take all the necessary precautions to keep themselves safe. He also highlighted about the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. A total amount of 50 crore is being spent on the scheme. He mentions about the free food relief scheme by the centre where food will be provided to over more than 80 crore people. The Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana will be extended till November end. Over 90,000 crore will be spent over the extension of the scheme. He also announced one ration one ration card. He also lauded the honest taxpayers of our country for paying their taxes on time. He also asked the citizens to move ahead focusing on 'Vocal for local' movement and move towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. Lastly, he also urged all citizens of the nation to be safe and strictly abide by all the social distancing norms issued by the government. Listen in!
