Cap on Airfares: Decoding the revenue impact | Aviation Ministry Secretary Pradeep Kharola Exclusive by ET NOW

Cap on Airfares: Decoding the revenue impact | Aviation Ministry Secretary Pradeep Kharola Exclusive

Video description:
How will the aviation sector and business ops be affected by the easing of restrictions from May 25? Aviation Secretary, Pradeep Kharola speaks to ET NOW Ruchi Bhati in an exclusive interview. Here’s a look at the top points highlighted during the conversation. Have been talking to all important stakeholders about starting of air travel. Lockdown restrictions are slowly being lifted. Taxis are now operative in most parts of the country. Quite confident that passengers won't face any difficulty in reaching airports. Detailed protocols for flying have been put in place. Airlines to provide with masks, shields; there will be thermal screening too. All guidelines are dynamic and will change as we progress. Will keep reviewing the fare situation. Capping airfares is more of a balancing act keeping everyone's interest in mind. Pent up demand should not be taken advantage of by any mode of transport. UDAN flights are also about to be opened in 2-3 days. Have a robust demand as far as domestic aviation is concerned. Air India disinvestment process is on, the deadline is in June. Believe Air India will find more viable pricing now. Fall in crude prices makes the carriers more viable. Ajay Singh of Spicejet Exclusive Interview on Aviation Sector for the next three months

Video description:
Catch the full exclusive interview with Ajay Singh of Spicejet with Nayantara Rai. Here’s a look at the most crucial points raised by him during the interview. Grateful that airlines are being allowed to fly again. Civil aviation ministry really fought hard for us. Aircraft cabins are safest amongst all other means of transport. Grateful that aviation min was able to convince the health min to start flying. Leaving middle seat empty serves no purpose. Commercial teams to take a call on ticket fare complexities. Understand govt's rationale behind the lower & upper band of fares. 'Not thrilled' about the cap on airfares. Don't think we'll lose money; lower oil prices to help. Ready to help for the evacuation of stranded Indians. See a significant opportunity for reforms going forward. The Civil Aviation Ministry has been proactive, confident of more reforms. Understand that govt doesn't have resources like other nations. Going forward, we'll compete against airlines getting bailouts. Need to look at ways to compete against Airlines getting bailouts. Will work with govt so that airlines come out of crisis stronger.
