Is there a case for a lower tax rate? | India Development Debate

Video description:
On India Development Debate, As India slowly begins its economic activity, a case for a 15% corporate tax rate is slowly building up. Last September, the government had reduced the corporate tax rates. The effective corporate tax rate after giving up exemptions is 25.17%, and with exemptions, close to 28% . But, as the economy reels under the stress of this unforeseen crisis, a 15% corporate tax rate is expected to make Indian companies more globally competitive. The move will also attract more companies looking at moving from China. So, should the government look at further rate cuts? Tune in for the debate with Sangita Reddy, Joint MD, Apollo Hospitals & President, FICCI, Sandip Somany, Jt. Themes To Bet On Amid Volatility? | S Naren To ET NOW

Video description:
Global markets were driven by positive sentiment in May with most markets gaining during the month except India and Hong Kong. The Nifty declined four per cent while the Hang Seng slumped seven per cent in the month gone by. The recent rally in the market is owed to the actions taken by the Federal Reserve says S Naren, chief investment officer at ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund. He also believes that one would have missed the rally only by looking economic indicators as the reason for the rally is not backed by “earnings growth” but the infusion of liquidity by the global central bank. In an interview with ET Now, he went on to say markets were cheap when the Nifty was around 7500 but at 10000 he advocates a need for the right asset allocation.
