India is planning to reduce import dependence which could mean that the government is working on setting up import monitoring bodies for product and sectors with high imports and widening the scope of the restricted list. Commerce ministry mulls at building the import monitoring system which will be sector-specific to control the flow of imports and in line with the current steel import monitoring system. These restrictions also mean that imports will be allowed only after government approvals and the approvals will need to be sought with every import load.
