Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the government's new initiative of auctioning coal blocks for the commercial sector. The reforms in the industry are going to be carried out in a two-stage auction which has been created in order to allocate mines. The announcement is a part of the Central Government's larger endeavour to make India self-reliant or atmanirbhar. The auction of the 41 coal blocks will be accompanied by the Centre spending Rs.50,000 crores on creating an infrastructure for coal extraction and transport.
